Here’s a card I saw on someone’s blog and I copied it.  It’s not exactly like the original because I didn’t have all the accessories she used.  Hope you like it.

I couldn’t resist stopping Friday morning on my way to work.  The sunrise was so beautiful and looks terrific over the frozen lake.  I took the shot from the parking lot.  Maybe I should have ventured out to get a better look but I had to get going so I would not be late.  Hope you enjoy.  God is so good, isn’t He?

Here’s the Hershey Kiss boxes I made for Valentine’s Day.  Also made some valentine cards to sell at work.  People seemed pretty happy to shop with me instead of going to Hallmark.  Hey, I have to pay for my stamping habit, don’t I?

Using Stampin’ Up blender pens/foggy weather

Here’s a link to a Stampin’ Up video on YouTube that shows an example of using blender pens and ink to color in a stamped project.  I use markers for this process too.  Put some marker color on a Styrofoam plate and dip the blender pen into it.  The ink does dry on the plate but when you dip the blender pen into it, it rehydrates.  You can use it over and over again.  You can use the blender pens with chalk too.  The chalk I have from Stampin’ Up comes in little squares.  If ou use the blender pens with the chalk, just dip the blender pen into the corner of the chalk.  Whatever is in the blender pen stays in the chalk and you will have to use that area of the square only with the blender pen.  I only use the chalk with the blender pen so it’s not a problem for me.

Let me know if this video was helpful.  Once you get to YouTube on this video, you can search for others like it.  I have learned a lot of techniques this way and also gotten many new ideas.

As I look out the sliding glass door this morning, I see snow and fog.  Very white.  I do not plan to venture out today.  There are at least six loads of laundry to do and maybe I will get a little stamping done in between.  It was 33 degrees on the car thermometer yesterday and the sun was out.  I was wondering if I was still in Minnesota.  It’s supposed to turn very cold again next week.  Hopefully, the weekdays will be cold and the weekends will start to get warmer.

On Thursday, this coming week, I will be working with the students at our church Christian school.  During Art class, we will be stamping and making Valentine cards.  The Art teacher wants the students to learn how to stamp and also how to care for the stamps as far as cleaning them and storing them.  I am very excited about it . . . and it’s an excuse to take the day off from work.  What could be better?  Yeeha!

Stampin’ Up Party cards

I went to a Stampin’ Up party today at Mary Larsen’s.  My friend, Michelle was the Stampin’  Up demonstrator.  We had such a good time.  There were about 14 of us.  That’s a big group.  We made 3 cards, which I am posting here for you to see.

The party started at 10:00 am and I arrived about 20 minutes early, as usual.  Michelle was not there yet and I was really surprised.  She arrived late because they had freezing rain and cars were in the ditch.  So glad she and Steph made it safely.  We didn’t have anything like that here, which I was glad.

After I left the party, I made a trip to Michael’s.  When the roads are good this time of year, you have to run errands.  If you wait, you may not be able to get out.  I went to look at their Valentine’s stamps.  We have a Christian school at our church.  I’ve been asked to show the students how to use stamps and care for them.  We’re doing it during their class time on February 10th, just in time to make valentine cards.  I found some really cute stamps to use.  I have some at home that I will bring too but one of the groups has 18 students in it.  They can only share so much.  I also got some ink to use.  I can’t wait to see what they create.  Won’t be bringing any samples.  It will be completely up to them to decide what they want to make.  I also got some ribbon to add and may bring some die cuts too.  I have to take the day off from work, oh, too bad.

John is sick.  He has had a sore throat since Wednesday.  Now he said his ears hurt and it’s in his chest.  Poor thing.  Hopefully he will be feeling better by Monday.  Until then, he is restricted to the house.  He’s also been battling with the toilet and the smoke alarm.  The toilet is running all the time.  He turns the water off at night so it doesn’t make noise all night.  We have someone coming Monday to fix it.  The landlord is in Arizona for the winter – poor thing.  He replaced the battery in the smoke alarm and now every five minutes it goes off.  Not sure what we’ll do about that.  I plan to make him Wild Rice Soup tomorrow and hopefully that will help with all he’s been through.   He gets Shake N Bake chicken tonight, which he asked for too.  I enjoy spoiling him.  In between the smoke alarm I think he’s working on the taxes.

I’ve been in my new job for two months now.  I just passed my 7 years with the County.  I think I’m liking the job now.  There ‘s so much to learn but I will keep trudging along.  There are some parts of it I like already because I feel comfortable doing them.  Dad always said you have to give a job six months before you know if you like it.  I have four more months to go.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Busy weekend

Saturday I spent the day with friends at a scrapbooking fundraiser.  I only made 7 cards all day but they were a little puttsy.  I do like them though.

Today was church and it was so good.  I just love it there.  It’s like a retreat to go.  I guess that’s why they call the auditorium a sanctuary.   So glad it’s heated too.  The weather has been atrocious.  Supposed to get snow again tonight.  Hope the drive into work tomorrow it okay.  I celebrated my 7 year anniversary with the county last week.

I invited Donna, who I worked with at the State of Minnesota (before I got laid off – she did too)  Here’s Donna scrapping:

Here are the pictures of the cards I made.

Hey, look at these.  I made these two on Monday.  Got the idea from Andrea Walford.  She’s a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator in Canda.  Very clever.  Hope you like mine.

Week in Review

Another week has passed me by.  Work is so, so busy I hardly look at the clock until I realize it’s over.  It’s been cold here but we dodged the snow . . . that is until tomorrow.  Execting a few inches in the next couple of days, which will be just enough to make the roads slippery.  That should be fun.

John and I went to the movies yesterday.  We saw the King’s Speech.  It was excellent.  True story of King George VI and his speech problems.  We’re sure it will win Oscars.  We also went to Archiver’s, well, I went to Archiver’s and John read the paper in the car.  I saw a recipe book there and the worker that made it helped me get the instructions.  It came from a blog she visited.  The original book was for Christmas, but she switched it to recipes.  I’m posting the pictures of the one I made.  It has pockets inside for you to put the recipe cards.  So much fun.

We ate dinner last night at Cracker Barrel.  There’s only one within 250 miles.  The one is not that far, only about 40.  Had the fried catfish, fried okra and sourdough bread.  It was the best.  The whole day was such a treat as it was all planned by John and I was completely surprised.

Church was good today.  We had our Sunday School continuing to work on communication.  The church service was about idols.  Now, you wouldn’t think that would be relevant to us, but it really is.  There are so many idols of the heart.  You don’t have to have statues all over your house to have a problem with idols.  What about spending too much time watching TV or being too concerned about what people think of you?  What do you spend your time thinking about?  Do you think about what others have and you want?  It all comes down to submission and obedience from my perspective.  If my focus is on serving God and pleasing Him, then the focus is taken off of me and things.  I need to work on that.  How about you?

Well, have a good week.  Be careful out there.  Here’s the pictures of the recipe book.

Sunny Sunday

Don’t let the sunshine in Minnesota today fool you.  It’s cold.  Single digit temperatures.  If you don’t have to go anywhere, it’s not that bad.  Snowed a little yesterday and now the brown snow is white again.  I like that part.  We had ice pellets the other day and the snow covered them.  Now it’s a bit slippery out there.  John shoveled a path for me to the garage and put down some sand and salt for traction.  Thanks, John.  You’re the best.  Back to work tomorrow. I’ve been off for five days.  It was a nice break for me and I got a lot of things done at home.  My stamp area is all cleaned up and organized.

We started a new Sunday School session today.  It goes through February.  We’re watching a DVD series on communication.  The most profound thing I took away from it this morning is that our words belong to the Lord.  We need to be careful what we say because everything we say is the Lord’s.  It’s not true that sticks and stones will break your bones and names will never hurt you.  How many times have you been told something hurtful and years later you still remember it?  One thing that is true is God’s Word will never hurt you.  God’s Word is truth and will only make us better.  In the same way, our Sunday message was on I Corinthians 10:13.  God does not tempt us but will always make a way for us to bear whatever temptations come our way.  These messages are something to chew on all week until we meet again on next Sunday.
